| After a couple months of vacation following The Machine and deciding to pack it in, I started tinkering with q2. I created a few horrible maps with the red tech blocks, until I found these dusty old 'outpost' textures and created a map called Third Degree. At the time I didn't have any hardware acceleration on my computer and so guessed at the coloured lighting effects. I sent the finished map to PeeJ as a 'can you make sure the lighting doesn't suck' type favour. He absolutely loved the map and hosted it on his site, giving it a near perfect review. This turned out to be a very successful map and in addition to receiving an excellent review on the DMP, it received a five star review on the old MPQ and generated my first 'non-reviewer fan mail' from Adriano Lorenzini (or Escher). |
