| The Gauntlet was the fourth map I had ever designed, and the first I had the confidence to release, though in it wasn't nearly as good as the third one I had created. This map was vaguely inspired by a map called Deguello by Mike Panico. That was a fantastic map, this however, was not. If you download this, expect very boxy rooms, plenty of trim to get caught on (I didn't know what a 'clip' brush was at the time) and lots of poor texture combinations. It is also a very 'gimmicky' map. There is a limited healing pool, 'ladders', a quad damage indicator light and the classic, a trigger activated lava drop floor. I seem to remember this level being reviewed on Talon's Strike and the old MPQ and receiving 'polite' reviews. |
